but first, get to know the talent behind the art…

tell us a little about your journey to now

i first studied fashion in my early 20’s and worked in the industry for a few years before heading to the uk to study a masters in textiles at the glasgow school of art. after yearning for the aussie sun, i returned home with a suitcase full of printed fabrics and silk scarves, which began the start of my creative business today.

where does you passion for art and design stem from?

i grew up in a creative family, so being around art and a messy paintbrush became my norm from an early age. my nonna was a seamstress, and she first taught me how to sew. my interest in fashion, art and design began in my teens as i began to make my own clothes, but it wasn’t until i was older that i realised i could turn it into a career.

what was the inspiration behind the ‘bag of glory’ print?

i had a ball drawing motifs that have played a part in evo’s identity for the past 10+ years. each has it’s own story… the koala plays homage to evo’s aussie roots, the bold plants are inspired by evo salons across the globe. things got extra fun for me when i drew famous art icons with excellent hair and contemporary new looks, such as botticelli’s venus or michelangelo’s david.

what is your go-to evo product?

my hair is thick and straight, so i love mixing things up with curls and waves. i always use icon welder heat protection spray before hitting the hot tools… it smells amazing and adds the right level of texture. helmut really is the best in the biz when it comes to holding looks in place while keeping a natural look and feel.

what does the future have in store for julie white?

my dream is to keep covering the world with colourful, bold prints!

hit us with a fun fact

i secretly love being challenged to a game of limbo.
